The initial authorization of our verification body was granted on 17 June 1996 at the former location in Tonfabrikgasse in Vienna. At that time, the official identification number 515 was assigned.
We are authorized and supervised by the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying (Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen) in accordance with the Verification Bodies Ordinance (BGBl. II No. 93/2004). The procedures applied are oriented towards the processes of accredited testing laboratories in accordance with EN ISO/IEC 17025.
As a private verification body not assigned to a distribution system operator, we perform verifications with very different scopes. The range is from individual verification for private persons to the initial verification of tens of thousands of devices within smart meter rollout programs.
Devices marked with our verification label comply with the legally prescribed error limits and fulfill verification requirements for all of Austria. Legally are distinguishable processes for:
A device is placed on the market for the first time and is verified regardin Austrian law (e.g. using statistical testing) or recognized as initially verified pursuant to §49 MEG.
The existing verification is still valid when testing procedure starts to renew verification. The device may continue to be used without interruption.
The verification is expired earlier and the device is submitted for verification to be used again.
Formally, no verification is performed; instead, the existing verification period is extended for a very specific set of devices. No current verification marks are applied to the device.
